Vacancy: Learning Manager (Holocaust Exhibition And Learning Centre)


£30,000 p.a
Location: University of Huddersfield, City Campus
Permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week)
5% Employer Pension Contribution

25 days annual leave plus public holidays

We wish to recruit an experienced and committed Learning Manager responsible for the Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre’s programmes for formal and informal learners. You will develop, manage and deliver an innovative and inspiring programme of workshops and resources through a team of facilitators, based on the exhibition and collections, for a range of audiences including schools, FE and HE providers, youth and community groups and adult learners. Developing external partnerships in support of our aims and planning for future sustainability, is an integral part of this demanding but rewarding role, with great opportunities for development.

The Holocaust Survivors’ Friendship Association is a registered charity set up in 1996. Our aim is to preserve the memory, testimony and records of the Holocaust survivors based in Yorkshire for research, teaching and learning. We recently opened the Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre, in partnership with the University of Huddersfield, based at the city campus.

Learning Manager Experience, Qualities and skills:

  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build rapport with a wide range of people
  • Substantial experience of developing creative learning programmes based on archive and/or museum collections, including digital collections
  • Ability to balance an audience-focused approach with historical rigour and an awareness of the subject’s contemporary relevance and sensitivity
  • Business acumen and the ability to contribute to fund raising and income generation strategies are essential.
