Children love being outdoors – learning through play and being inspired to explore the amazing world around them. But with the summer holidays coming up, it’s easy for kids to quickly become bored – and for parents to worry about keeping them engaged with learning. A recent study found that during the summer holidays, with no school classes to attend, children will on average lose 1.8 months’ worth of learning progress.
So, a new online initiative called ‘Get Kids Out Learning!’ by Tutora is an easy way for families to find fun, local days out which still provide great learning and educational opportunities and they are actively encouraging independent museums and heritage sites to sign up to the website for free.
Museums and heritage sites that would like to increase family visits can create a free profile on the website before uploading their activities and events. Venues will also be listed in Tutora’s monthly emails to let families know about the top educational attractions near them.
The website pulls together all the best educational venues across the UK and allows parents to search for them by region to quickly see all the information they need to plan a great day out. The website attracts half a million visitors per month and has a network of over 55,000 users across the UK.
Museums will also be part of a growing campaign that will be covered in a variety of national and regional media such as radio, press, social media, bloggers and more. Tutora will be focusing on creating great content such as guides, listicles and many more methods of marketing the best museums across the UK.
