The Museum of Military Medicine

Roles: Trustees (Fundraising, Marketing, Legal)

Area/County where the organisation is situated: South East / Wales

The Museum of Military Medicine Trust CIO is in the process of relocating the Museum from its current site at Keogh Barracks, near Aldershot, to Cardiff Bay. This is part of an ambitious programme to establish the collection as a fully independent museum with a sustainable business model by the early 2020s, in partnership with academic institutions.

We are seeking to appoint three new trustees with responsibility for marketing and communications, finance and fundraising, and legal expertise to join our board. We would like especially to hear from people with relevant backgrounds who can lead on planning, developing and implementing our marketing and fundraising strategies and public relations activities, and provide legal oversight concerning the redevelopment programme.

In particular we are seeking trustees with strong heritage, commercial, and/or third sector backgrounds.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: Board Meetings are held every three months during the late morning, from 11 a.m. onwards. During this development phase there are also more frequent meetings of the project development team.

Crossness Engines Trust

Role: Chair

Area/County where the organisation is situated: Thamesmead, London

The Chair will hold the Board, its supporting committees and executive team to account for delivering the Trust’s Mission, Vision and Strategic Plans, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, executive and volunteers and ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for effective governance of the Trust.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: 12 meetings a year plus other visits to site

The Cromwell Museum Trust

Roles: Trustees

Area/County where the organisation is situated: Cambridgeshire

The Cromwell Museum Trust wishes to appoint additional Trustees to our Board to help the development of the museum at an exciting time. Following a recent skills audit, we are particularly seeking to add Trustees with expertise in Fundraising and Project Management in capital projects to our board.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: Board of Trustee meetings once every six weeks (9 per year)

Ipswich Transport Museum

In order to expand the resources on our Management Committee we are looking for people to join the team of trustees who manage the Ipswich Transport Museum.

We are looking for people with management skills, business acumen and also people with sales and marketing experience.

Teign Heritage Centre – Teignmouth & Shaldon Museum

Roles: Trustees (Fundraising and Digital)

Area/County where the organisation is situated: South Devon

The award winning Teign Heritage Centre, based in Teignmouth, is looking to recruit two new volunteer Trustees/Directors.

The main responsibilities of the Fundraising role would be to develop a fundraising strategy. Identify suitable grants and write applications. Work with the trustees of the charity and the volunteers to organise local fundraising events.

The Trustee responsible for ICT and Digital Interpretation would primarily be involved in overseeing the updating of the IT system in the museum and advising on appropriate technology for the galleries.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: Approx. 8 meetings per year.

Daytime or evening meetings: Mainly early evening

Leominster Museum

Roles: Trustees

Area/County where the organisation is situated: Leominster, Herefordshire

The Museum is governed by a board of Trustees whose role is to see that the objectives of the Trust are met. Have you specific expertise that can be brought to strengthen the Board? Are you a good communicator? Can you perhaps take on a specific role that would be appropriate for your skills such as fundraising co-ordinator, or assistance with risk management, fire safety/first aid or GDPR and other roles. Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: Six

Woodhams Stone Collection

Role: Treasurer

Area/County where the organisation is situated: Norton, Malton, North Yorkshire

You would be responsible for the payment of invoices and charges incurred by the Trust and manage the receipts of any income. You would complete the accounts at the end of each financial year and submit them with the annual return to the Charities Commission.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: 6-8 approximately
