Museum of East Anglian Life – East of England

Roles: Trustees

The Museum of East Anglian Life is seeking two new trustees.

With 17 historic buildings set in 75 acres of beautiful countryside, the Museum of East Anglian Life is a leading regional visitor attraction and the largest independent museum in Suffolk. The museum is a charity and a social and cultural enterprise supporting the community. We care for over 40,000 objects – once the everyday items of East Anglian life. Our collection has a particular focus on the production of food and social history relating to it, reflective of the region’s strong agricultural character.

The Board of Trustees is seeking two new colleagues to assist and advise as the museum seeks to grow and develop. All applicants are welcome, but we especially encourage applications from those with experience and networks in law, food production and fundraising and development. Experience of museums is not necessary, but a commitment to be actively involved and the ability to contribute towards the delivery of the strategic aims of the museum with time, energy and skills are a must. The role is voluntary.

Pallant House Gallery – Sussex

Pallant House Gallery, a modern Art Museum in Chichester, West Sussex (www.pallant.org.uk)  is looking for two new Board members.

S/he will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to think strategically, to review management reports and financial information, to assess and manage risk, to support the development of the forward plan for the Gallery and to have a commitment to ensuring good governance.

All applicants are welcome for consideration by our Nominations Committee, but we particularly encourage applications from those with experience in digital technology, finance, learning, human resources or buildings management.

The National Paralympic Heritage Trust – Buckinghamshire

You could be drawn from the world of culture, heritage, disability or sport but you will share our passion for preserving and celebrating the heritage of the UK as the birth place of the Paralympic movement and it is likely you will have an understanding of, and access to, important networks or contacts in the sport and/or heritage sectors. You will also need to be committed to our aims and values, and to equality and diversity.

The Judge’s Lodging Trust – Presteigne, Mid Wales

We are seeking to recruit up to four Trustees to join the existing group of five, four of whom have strong links in the local community. Of particular interest are those with experience in: Business management, Fundraising, Finance, Trust Governance, Business Development, Marketing and PR, Learning and Volunteering/Community Engagement.

Woodhams Stone Collection – North Yorkshire

Roles: Trustees

The Woodhams Stone Collection, based in Malton, are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to become Trustees of the Collection and to help drive the Trust forwards.

We are at an exciting point in our story, becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, with a new Forward Plan in place, plans to create our own store and workspace for the collection and aspirations to develop new opportunities for volunteers and for making the collections accessible to all.

The roles are various including Fundraising, income generation and merchandising; marketing and social media; museum collections; research and exhibitions; volunteer co-ordination; trust secretarial role; trust treasurer.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: 4 to 6 meetings per year as a board but we are looking for active trustees to support the work of the charity, so applicants will need to work with subcommittees and our volunteers to develop the charity and our aims and objectives.

We are open to hearing what else you have to offer. We welcome all applications but would particularly welcome those with:

  • An interest in local and social history
  • A knowledge of or connection to Malton, Norton or Old Malton
  • Previous experience as a trustee or on a charity or voluntary organisation committee

Herne Bay Museum Trust (for the Seaside Museum Herne Bay) – Kent

Roles: Trustees (3)

The Seaside Museum is entirely volunteer run from governance to operational levels. The Trust’s constitution allows for a Board of nine Trustees, currently there are six, and three are sought. Trustee skills are required for finance (especially income generation), governance and legal, personnel management, and marketing and promotion. Trustees are encouraged to assume a specialist responsibility and engage with management and operational activities and donate time at their convenience.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: 4 formal meetings requiring 8-10 hours in total, and if possible attendance at selected management meetings requiring 8-10 hours per annum.

Daytime or evening meetings: Mostly day time, occasional evenings.
