Job vacancy – part time Curator at The Museum of East Asian Art
Salary: £28,000 – £33,000 pro-rata (3 days, 24 hours) depending on knowledge and experience
Term: Permanent with a probationary period of 12 months
Closing Date: 15 November 2020
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic part-time Curator of Collections to join our small and dynamic team at The Museum of East Asian Art in the centre of Bath.
Along with so many museums we are experiencing a period of great change and, in the context of renewal, we are looking for an innovative and creative Curator who can join us on the exciting journey to reimagine our Museum. We need someone with the knowledge, insight and passion to help us connect cultures and challenge perceptions in ways that make us more relevant and responsive to this changing environment, particularly to our audiences. This vision is at the heart of all we do.
Our small and committed team works closely with the Museum Manager and collaboratively in smaller teams, so while you will be responsible for the collections and developing exhibitions, you will be working closely with members of the team on interpretation and identifying and delivering appropriate activities and events to enrich the visitor experience.
We are committed to equal opportunities and diversity and welcome applicants whatever their personal characteristics or social identity. So if you are excited about collecting, researching, interpreting and making our collections accessible to the public through exhibitions and interpretive displays with the aim of helping us deliver our Vision, we would love to hear from you.
Short-listed candidates will be asked to propose and present a subject or theme for a temporary exhibition which is either inspired by the Collection, or brings something fresh and imaginative to the Museum that breathes life into our Collection and takes forward our vision to connect cultures and challenge perceptions.
All candidates will be notified if they have been shortlisted or not by 27 November 2020.
Interviews will be held on w/c 7 December 2020
