There has never been a better time for independent museums to be a great destination, with research late last year by Trip Advisor showing a growing desire for cultural experiences and bookings for cultural attractions rising sharply, with a 45% increase in 2018 compared to 2017.
Ensure your museum or heritage site capitalises on the growing tourism trend for cultural experiences and museum visits, by booking today to attend AIM National Conference which runs 20 – 22 June 2019 at The National Civil War Centre in Newark.
Sponsored by Artelia, our theme this year is ‘How to be a great destination’ and conference will offer delegates fresh ideas on:
*Creative place making
*Becoming a great destination for your community
*Understanding your audiences
*Creating an excellent visitor experience
*How to attract groups to your museum
*Making your shop or café a desirable destination in its own right
*Attracting and retaining volunteers
*Transforming your destination with a capital development
There will also be walking tours of Newark, participation sessions (We are a great destination because…), charity finance and legal updates plus an introduction to the new strategic framework by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
A huge part of AIM National Conference each year are the social events which allow delegates to network, relax and enjoy visiting some unique locations.
This year, the AIM dinner will be held at the historic Thoresby Courtyard, the Friday night social event will take place at the historic Newark Castle and the Saturday study tour will visit AIM member museums – The National Holocaust Centre and Creswell Crags.
Places for all social events are selling fast and we have very limited spaces left, so please click here to see how you can benefit from attending our social events.
If you are arriving at AIM National Conference ahead of 20 June, we have arranged free entry to AIM members, Newark Air Museum, on Wednesday 19 June.
Meet and mingle with an array of businesses and sector support agencies during our always popular conference exhibition!
