If you haven’t heard already, we’d like to let you know about the Civilisations Festival: an exciting partnership between museums, libraries and galleries and the BBC to coincide with the broadcast of BBC Arts’ Civilisations series on BBCTWO in Spring 2018. The Festival – from Friday 2nd March to Sunday 11th March – will be a showcase of ideas and events designed to engage a culturally curious audience across the UK. There’s more information about the Festival and what’s on offer to museums, libraries and galleries, including details of how to sign up:

If you are interested in finding out more about this exciting offer of digital tools, the BBC are holding two Civilisations Festival Digital Workshops in Wales. They’ll be in the afternoon on the following dates and locations:

9th November – Cardiff, National Museum

14th November – Bangor, Storiel Museum

The workshop will be a unique opportunity for you to see digital tools in action offered to Festival Partners. It will explore ideas about how they could be used to create digital experiences (including showcasing items from your collections) to accompany Civilisations Festival activity. You’ll be able to see examples of the tools, hands on demonstrations and practical advice on how they could be used by your organisation for storytelling and more.

These are free workshops run by the expert staff from the BBC’s digital Research and Development teams. People with all levels of expertise are welcome. They may be particularly useful for curators, those involved in digital programme activities and digital experts who may be using the tools.

If you or colleagues would like to come along please email connectedstudio@bbc.co.uk with ‘Civilisations’ in the subject field to reserve a place. We’ll then send you full details for each workshop.

Os nad ydych wedi clywed yn barod, hoffwn eich hysbysu am Ŵyl Civilisations: partneriaeth gyffrous rhwng amgueddfeydd, llyfrgelloedd a galerïau a’r BBC i gydfynd gyda darllediad cyfres Civilisations Celfyddydau y BBC ar BBCTWO yng Ngwanwyn 2018. Bydd yr Ŵyl – o Ddydd Gwener 2il o Fawrth i Ddydd Sul 11eg o Fawrth – yn arddangosiad o syniadau a digwyddiadau sydd wedi eu dylunio i ymgysylltu â chynulleidfa sydd yn ddiwylliannol chwilfrydig ar hyd a lled y DU. Mae rhagor o wybodaeth am yr Ŵyl a beth sydd ar gael i amgueddfeydd, llyfrgelloedd a galerïau, yn cynnwys manylion ar sut i gofrestru ar:

Os oes gennych ddiddordeb mewn darganfod rhagor am y cynnig cyffrous hwn o offer digidol, mae’r BBC yn cynnal dau Weithdy Digidol Gŵyl Civilisations yng Nghymru. Byddent yn digwydd yn ystod y prynhawn ar y dyddiadau ac yn y lleoliadau canlynol:

14eg Tachwedd – Bangor, Amgueddfa Storiel

Bydd y gweithdy yn gyfle unigryw i chi weld yr offer digidol a gynigir i Bartneriaid yr Ŵyl ar waith. Byddai’n archwilio syniadau am sut y gall yr offer gael ei ddefnyddio i greu profiadau digidol (gan gynnwys arddangos eitemau o’ch casgliadau) i gydfynd â gweithgaredd Gŵyl Civilisations. Byddech yn gallu gweld enghreifftiau o’r offer, gydag arddangosiadau rhyngweithiol a chyngor ymarferol ar sut y bydd eich sefydliad yn gallu eu defnyddio ar gyfer dweud straeon a mwy.

Mae’r rhain yn weithdai di-dâl a gynhelir gan staff arbenigol o dîmau Ymchwil a Datblygiad digidol y BBC. Mae croeso i bobl gyda phob lefel o arbenigedd fynychu. Gall y gweithdai fod yn arbennig o ddefnyddiol ar gyfer curaduriaid, pobl sydd yn ymwneud â gweithgareddau rhaglen ddigidol ac arbenigwyr digidol a fydd o bosib yn defnyddio’r offer.

Os hoffech chi neu eich cydweithwyr fynychu ebostiwch connectedstudio@bbc.co.uk os gwelwch yn dda gan roi ‘Civilisations’ fel pwnc er mwyn archebu lle. Byddwn wedyn yn anfon y manylion llawn atoch ar gyfer pob gweithdy.
