Amberley Museum & Heritage Centre – West Sussex, near Arundel

Trustee role(s): Board Members

We have three vacancies. We are seeking candidates with skills in the following areas: fundraising and income generation; community engagement and informal learning; curatorial/heritage management; engaging educational institutions; ICT strategy; leisure strategy; and public sector/ Government

Traditionally 6 meetings per year (evening) plus involvement in Committee work, normally daytime weekday meetings.

Priest’s House Museum Trust – Wimborne, Dorset

East Grinstead Museum – West Sussex

We are interested in broadening the basis of our capacity to maintain an active and supportive framework of governance for our charity and the work of the team. As a Trustee, you will be asked to attend a minimum of 6 half day Board meetings a year. In addition, there may be supplementary meetings and on-going projects which will require a regular time commitment equivalent to approximately one-two days each month. We would be particularly interested in applicants who have experience in Financial Management, Volunteer Development or Marketing

Sherborne Museum – Dorset

We are in the process of transferring from an Association to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).  To help shape our future and raise our profile we are seeking to appoint a Chair for the newly formed Sherborne Museum Trust with strong local networks and standing to work with the curator in providing leadership and to champion the work of the Museum in the local community and beyond. The role of Chair is non-executive, providing a rewarding opportunity to use your expertise and experience to help us develop Sherborne Museum.

7 meetings annually 1-2 hours

Downham Market & District Heritage Society: Discover Downham Heritage Centre – Norfolk

Discover Downham is an independent heritage centre operated by the Downham Market & District Heritage Society, which opened in March 2016 with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and WREN. We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Reg Charity Number 1154267.

We are looking for up to four new Trustees, to join our Board.  Working closely with the existing Trustees, the Centre Manager and the Education & Learning Officer, new Trustees would be part of the team developing Discover Downham Heritage Centre for the future.

All ages are welcome, if you are starting out on your career and would like to enhance your CV, or if you’re more experienced and would like to use your skills to benefit the community – everyone’s welcome.  However, we are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in any of the following: Heritage management or museum development, Business management & development, Fundraising (community and grants), Marketing and PR, Learning and Community Engagement

Nautical Museums Trust Limited (The Shipwreck Museum) – Hastings, East Sussex

Accountant or bookkeeper to oversee finances and advise Trustees as we develop and diversify income streams and strengthen capability.  Specifically: Working with Business Director to oversee monthly/year end reporting, Liaising with auditors, Charity Commission, Companies House, Advising on policies and relations with the bank and Finalising the budget. No daily financial management.

5 board meetings a year (including AGM), additional meetings if required – time commitment flexible but probably 3 hours a week or two days a month.

Glenside Hospital Museum – Bristol

Trustee role(s): Board Member

To join the current trustees and Project Manager in taking the museum forward to: participate in a new challenge to rebuild the museum providing experience of organisational and building development, develop our education service using our museum collection as an international resource to support mental health awareness.

4 meetings annually, plus 4 if the trustee’s interests lean to a particular project and sub-committee. Volunteers give anything from 12 hours a year to 6 hours a week depending on their interest.

Meetings will be on a rolling timetable to ensure all trustees get a chance to participate.
