AIM Announces The Departure Of Executive Director, Tamalie Newbery

The Association of Independent Museums (AIM) announces that our current Executive Director, Tamalie Newbery, will be leaving the organisation in December 2017 to take up the post of Director and CEO at Brooklands Museum in Surrey.

Since taking up her post in 2013, Tamalie has led AIM through a period of tremendous growth with great skill. AIM and its members have benefitted so much from her outstanding leadership. Her achievements have helped independent museums across the UK prosper – including the launch of the AIM Hallmarks for Prospering Museums and the recent National Portfolio award of £1.2 million by Arts Council England.

Richard Evans, AIM’s Chair and Director of Beamish, The Living Museum of the North, said:

“Tamalie leaves AIM in great shape – we are all looking forward to the future with great optimism, working to help heritage organisations prosper. AIM’s Council met last week to discuss how we will manage the recruitment of Tamalie’s successor. We will begin the recruitment process straight away and we will be advertising for this exciting opportunity to join AIM in the next few weeks, with a view to appointing as soon as possible.”

Tamalie Newbery, said:

“After 10 years on AIM Council, and a further 4 years working for AIM, I am sad to be leaving. I have loved my job and the best part has been visiting independent museums across the UK and meeting the passionate people who work and volunteer in them. I am proud that AIM has grown in terms of its size, influence and the services it offers, in the past four years, but it has kept its independent spirit, reflecting the enthusiasm, optimism and realism of independent museums. I wish AIM, and all AIM members, a prosperous future.”

AIM will soon release the job application pack for the role of Executive Director and will announce this via the AIM website, social media and AIM E-News. Please keep watching our communication channels for this announcement.
