Aim Bulletin is a bi-monthly magazine free to members which ensures they keep up to date with a wide range of matters of interest to them.  It includes news and comment, summaries of Government and other major initiatives, AIM submissions on members’ behalf and features on members and their achievements. It also includes a strong Advertising section, including the AIM Directory of products and services , which is linked in to the Suppliers Directory on this website. AIM FOCUS papers offer practical, concisely-written guidance on a wide variety of subjects of interest to independent museums, keeping staff, trustees and volunteers up to date with the latest information on management. Grants

AIM operates three easily-accessible grant schemes to help members with sustainability, conservation and training. The AIM Sustainability Grant Scheme and the AIM Conservation Grant Scheme are generously supported respectively by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and The Pilgrim Trust. Both schemes have been extremely popular with members, and a total of 90 museum projects have been supported with grants from the two schemes since 2006. The Sustainability Scheme has been backed up by workshops held around the country, which have been well-attended, offering good networking opportunities at the same time. The Bob Harding Training Grants  have provided small grants for individuals attending various training courses and schemes.

Knowledge, Training and Networking

AIM Conference AIM’s Annual Conference is a dynamic, friendly and informative three-day event held in a different part of the country and focusing on a wide range of matters of interest to independent museums. The two main seminar days include keynote lectures, case studies and workshops. A day of visits to museums and projects in the area is included, along with AIM’s annual dinner, always held in a place of special interest to members, and the AGM, always short! AIM Conference has developed a reputation for positivity, information exchange and great networking opportunities.

Advocacy

AIM Council is consulted regularly by Government and national bodies on museums, heritage and tourism matters, making submissions on behalf of its membership and ensuring they have a voice at national level.

AIM Workshops

AIM Workshops are often held in conjunction with its grant schemes and in response to members’ concerns in various subject areas. Held in different parts of the country to enable all to take part, they offer excellent opportunities for museums to explore ideas with others and help fine-tune their own projects and activities.
