AIM SUSTAINABIIITY SCHEME RENEWED
Thanks to the generosity of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation the AIM Sustainability scheme will continue for another three years with the first round of grants for the new scheme being made in June 2008. Although the exact details of the new scheme have yet to be finalised it is expected that the eligibility criteria will remain much the same as the present scheme with the important addition that independent museums in London will now be eligible for grants. AIM is also planning to organise another round of workshops which will probably start in June 2008. Details of the new scheme and the workshops will be announced in the AIM Bulletin as soon as they have been finalised. The first grants under the present scheme were made in January 2006 and to date we have made 36 grants totalling £162,000. The wide range of applicants has demonstrated the importance of sustainability issues to small and medium sized independent museums and projects we have support have included
- Income generation through shop/café
- Business planning
- Review of governance or organisation
- Audience development
- Hardware purchase e.g. audio tour equipment
The AIM Sustainability Grants are intended to help medium and smaller sized members to improve their medium and long term financial viability. To be eligible for grants under this scheme member’s must have either an annual turnover of less than £300,000 or less than 60,000 visitors a year. Grants are not available to museums that have received a grant directly from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation in the last three years.
Closing dates for entries:
